Locations are presented in the order they first appeared in this episode. Where locations are returned to during the narrative, or are linked in the narrative (i.e. roads leading to a specific destination) we have grouped them together here for the sake of tidiness. Timings given are based on the UK Blu-ray release from Network.

If you wish to stay or dine at the main filming location seen in this episode, you can book at The Manor Elstree website.

Spotter's Note: The house was built in 1540 and is surrounded by 10 acres of gardens and natural woodland.

The light we see shining through a window in the opening shot is actually in the front-facing Beaufort Room rather than the Terrace Bar as suggested by the editing.

"Inside Merston Manor"

EDGWAREBURY HOTEL
(now THE MANOR ELSTREE)
BARNET LANE
ELSTREE
HERTFORDSHIRE WD6

Identified by:
Anthony McKay and Annette Hill

(00:12) Ghost hunter Frederick Waller stands taking notes in the downstairs lounge of the reputedly haunted Merston Manor.

Spotter's Note: This room is now the hotel's Terrace Bar at the rear of the building. The painting displayed above the fireplace is Spanish, from Medieval times, and is painted on leather canvas.

Since Filming: Following the acquisition of the Edgwarebury from Corus Hotels by the Laura Ashley Group, the interior of the hotel was refurbished throughout, with the majority of the dark wood beams being painted off-white. Also wall paintings on the stairs were boarded over. Where possible we have attempted to show how the hotel looked before and after the redecoration.

Spotter's Note: The front doors of the Edgwarebury were once part of the dungeons at Lewes Castle in East Sussex.

THEN... Blu-ray

(09:56) The camera pans as Webster makes his checks. Marty walks over and joins him.

Since Filming: Part of the panelling behind Webster was removed during renovations in 1989 as demonstrated in the 1998 photo. Today there is a stairway where actors George A. Cooper and Kenneth Cope stood which leads down to the basement conference room, cloakrooms and toilet facilities.

SPRINGFIELD ROAD
HARROW
LONDON HA1

Identified by:
Andy Hulse

(04:41) Establishing shot of the entrance door of the Randall and Hopkirk offices.

THEN... Blu-ray

(24:13) Jenny leaves the office and gets into Jeff's Vauxhall, unaware that Lattimer has concealed himself on the back seat.

Since Filming: The Randall and Hopkirk offices and the southern part of Springfield Road are long gone, demolished to make way for a new development. The grass verge seen in the early 1990s photograph represents the approximate point at which the offices stood. This too has also now gone and Jeff and Marty's offices are now under concrete, following the building in 1996 of a new shopping centre.

(39:14) Establishing shot of Merston Village Hall.

Spotter's Note: This wooden construction was not actually the Shenley Village Hall. A permanent brick-built village hall stands at 108 London Road. Originally built in 1853 as a girls' primary school, it was decomissioned from educational use in 1878. The wooden hut seen in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) was possibly connected to the Scouts movement.

The interior of the hut seen on screen was a studio set, as was the exterior with Marty looking at the Merston Village Hall sign.

Since Filming: The wooden hut has been removed since filming and two residential properties have been constructed between the two white painted properties seen in the episode.
