Locations are presented in the order they first appeared in this episode. Where locations are returned to during the narrative, or are linked in the narrative (i.e. roads leading to a specific destination) we have grouped them together here for the sake of tidiness. Timings given are based on UK DVDs with 'PAL speed up'.

"Cranley's Apartment"

KINGS COURT
31 PRINCE ALBERT ROAD
ST. JOHN'S WOOD
LONDON NW8

Identified by:
'37Sunshine' @ Britmovie Forum

(00:00) Establishing shot of the apartment block where Cranley lives.

(37:29) Cranley's apartment, at night.

Since Filming: The building displays some alterations, some more extensive than others. For instance, all flats with glass at floor level have now had the glass replaced with an opaque finish. However, the main change is that what we presume was the stairwell above the entrance has now been converted into additional living space. We assume there is a lift!

'Les Fleurs du Mal', 'Soup of the Day'

"Outside Jeff's Office"

SPRINGFIELD ROAD
HARROW
MIDDLESEX HA1

Identified by:
Andy Hulse

(04:44) Bream parks up outside the Randall and Hopkirk offices.

(05:06) Bream exits the car and walks to the office entrance. Perrin sees him enter.

(26:17) Jeff's Vauxhall is parked up.

(27:41) Bream exits Jeff's office and walks across the road.

Since Filming: The Randall and Hopkirk offices are long gone, demolished to make way for a new development. The grass verge seen in the early 1990s photograph represents the approximate point at which the offices stood. This too has also now gone and Jeff and Marty's offices are now under concrete, following the building in 1996 of a new shopping centre.

(04:55) Bream readies himself in the car before calling on Randall (optically printed process shot).

Spotters' Note: These shops were situated a little way down Springfield Road on the opposite side of the road to the Randall and Hopkirk offices.

There were also scenes featuring Michael Gothard as Perrin in the Ford Galaxie reporting back by car telephone to Corri. These sequences appear to have been achieved in studio against a painted or photographic backdrop.

THEN...

(27:41) Bream exits Jeff's office and walks across the road.

Since Filming: Despite the demolition of the southern part of Springfield Road to allow the construction of the shopping centre, the northern part of the road, seen in the distance of this shot, is still recognisable.

"Atlantic Hotel"

1-2 QUEEN'S GARDENS
BAYSWATER
LONDON W2

(08:41) Establishing shot of The Atlantic Hotel, where Bream has a room.

(09:43) This shot begins with a close-up on the 'Atlantic Hotel' sign and then zooms out to show the entrance below it.

Since Filming: The Atlantic Hotel was a genuine hostelry, later known as The New Atlantic Hotel. It has now been renovated and renamed Park Grand London Paddington. The front of the building has been remodelled since filming and six of the front windows that were blanked in 1968 are now fenestrated.

It is also worth noting that the building's address is Queen's Gardens but its front entrance actually sits on Devonshire Terrace.

(35:23) Corri, Wilks and Jeff are waiting outside the bank, when the telephone in the call box across the road starts ringing.

(36:50) Outside the telephone box, Corri has Jeff carted off by Wilks.

Since Filming: The Elstree backlot area is significantly changed since the 1960s, not least due to the construction of a Tesco's superstore on 12 acres of former Elstree Studios land and there remains little that is recognisable.
